Rio Grande @ UC Clermont Women’s Basketball Game Recap

     BATAVIA, Ohio- Rio Grande never trailed and led by as many as 27 points in a 103-78 win over UC Clermont on Saturday. The RedStorm stormed out to a 27-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and never ceased momentum. 

 

     Reagan Willingham led the RedStorm with 22 points, connecting on three-of-six three points shot attempts. Mickale Bates and Kaylie Apperson had 16 points each for Rio Grande. Apperson had a team-high seven rebounds and four steals. 

 

     Ashley Moore led UC Clermont with 32 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Moore made three of her six three point shot attempts. Victoria Brooks had 15 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Kristi Duncan had 12 points and shot six-of-seven from the free-throw line for the Cougars.

 

     UC Clermont capitalized on their foul shot attempts, shooting nearly 82% from the free-throw line as a team. The Cougars shot just 37% from the field and had 30 turnovers.

 

     Rio Grande had 40 assists as a team and converted on over half of their field goal attempts. The RedStorm outrebounded the Cougars 54-28.

 

     Rio Grande improves to 10-7 and will be on the road against Campbellsville Harrodsburg on Tuesday at 5 p.m. UC Clermont falls to 2-3 and will travel to take on Ohio Christian on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
