LIMA, OH– The UC Clermont Cougars will travel to Lima, Ohio to tip off their 2025-26 season against the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers on Wednesday at 6 p.m. UNOH is coming off of an impressive 111-70 win against Great Lakes Christian in their home opener.
Alysia Lawson is coming in off of her career-high 46 points on 55% shooting from the field and 44% from three point range last game. Brooke Asher had 8 of the team’s 28 assists for the Racers. UNOH shot 54.1% from the field and had 64 points in the paint. Lori Huffman and Sanaiiya Gray each pulled down 14 rebounds, accounting for 28 of the 58 total rebounds for the Racers. Lawson earned the WHAC Offensive Player of the Week Award, while Gray earned the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Award last week. Gray added 10 points and four blocks in addition to her 14 boards. Matt Vavro is the head coach with Tom Litman as an assistant coach for UNOH. The Racers were voted to finish sixth in the WHAC in a preseason coaches’ poll. They finished at 20-10 overall and 12-8 in conference play last season.
UC Clermont is coming off of a 14-12 record last season. They are led by head coach Ken Lowe, with Tim Swart and Kristi Duncan as assistant coaches. Guards Tamira Scott and McKaila Hatton return in the backcourt for the Cougars. Scott averaged 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and dished out 3.4 assists per game last season. Hatton averaged 5.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting an incredible 91.7% from the free throw line a season ago. Forwards Kendra Gorsline and Keara Brooks return in the front court. Gorsline averaged 6.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 81.3% from the free throw line last season. Brooks averaged 3.3 points and 4.8 boards a season ago.
UNOH beat UC Clermont by a score of 105-65 in their matchup last season.
