UC Clermont @ Asbury University Men’s Basketball Game Recap

     WILMORE, Kentucky- Asbury University defeated UC Clermont by a score of 95-65 on Thursday. Asbury was up 41-34 at halftime, but pulled away thanks to a strong second-half performance in which they scored 54 points.

 

     John Aicholtz led the Cougars with 14 points and five rebounds. Caiden Smith had 10 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Greg Marsh had eight points, five assists, and three rebounds. UC Clermont shot 39.7% from the field and just 28% from three-point range. The Cougars also struggled from the free-throw line, converting on only 25% of their free-throw attempts. UC Clermont had a 52-42 rebound advantage, but fell victim to the hot shooting of Asbury.

 

     Eric Powell had 21 points, eight rebounds, and two steals for Asbury. Powell shot 5-for-6 from the three-point line. John Shoulders provided 19 points off the bench and shot a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range. Nick Fort had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Leander Ridgeway had 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Siah Holifield added 11 points and seven assists. Asbury shot 61.1% from the field and 68.4% from the three-point line.

 

     Asbury University improves to 12-3 and will be on the road against Alice Lloyd College on Saturday at 3 p.m. UC Clermont falls to 2-2 and will travel to take on Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg on Saturday at 1 p.m.
