Trinity International @ UC Clermont Men’s Basketball Game Recap

     BATAVIA,Ohio- UC Clermont beat Trinity International University by a score of 90-84 on Monday. The Cougars took a nine-point lead into halftime and won despite a second half comeback attempt by the Trojans. UC Clermont held a slim 76-72 lead over Trinity International with 6:59 left to go in the game before ultimately holding on in the end. It was a big win for the Cougars and their third win in a row. They found their rhythm offensively and could carry this momentum for some big wins down the stretch this season.

 

     John Aicholtz shot 10-for-13 and had 24 points to go along with four steals and four rebounds. Caiden Smith went 4-for-5 from three-point range and had 18 points, four assists, four rebounds, and three steals. David Hunter shot an efficient 8-for-11 and had 17 points, six steals, and six rebounds. Greg Marsh added 14 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. The Cougars carried the momentum offensively from last game, shooting an incredible 58.3% from the field as a team. UC Clermont had 15 steals, compared to just 5 from the Trojans. They also only had 13 turnovers as a team, while Trinity International turned the ball over 29 times.

 

     Brandon McQueen went 3-for-6 from the three-point line and had 21 points, five rebounds, and three assists for the Trojans. Diamond Presniakovas also connected on 3 three-pointers and had 19 points to go along with five rebounds. Jonathan Johansson went 5-for-9 from three-point range and had 15 points and six assists off of the bench. Brandon Lawani added 10 points and eight rebounds. Trinity International played well offensively, shooting 50% from the field and 51.7% from three-point range as a team.

 

     Trinity International University falls to 8-5 and will travel to take on Saint Xavier University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. UC Clermont improves to 5-3 and will be home against Campbellsville University-Somerset on Thursday at 6 p.m.
