Midway University @ UC Clermont Men’s Basketball Game Recap

BATAVIA, Ohio- Midway University jumped out to a commanding 46-28 halftime lead and carried the momentum through the second half to cruise to an 85-66 win over UC Clermont on Thursday, January 14th in the Cougardome.

Marlin Lyons led the Cougars with 11 points and eight rebounds. Greg Marsh added seven points, six rebounds, and eight assists. John Aicholtz had 10 points while Caiden Smith contributed nine points and five assists off the bench.

Donnie Miller led Midway University with 20 points. Kwon Evans and Krizell Mitchell scored 14 points each. Evans also had eight boards and six assists. Mitchell had a double-double with 10 rebounds and nearly a triple-double with eight assists.

The Cougars shot 46.2% from three-point range, but just 44.4% from the free-throw line. UC Clermont had five blocks and 11 steals as a team.

Midway had success spreading the ball around, totaling 33 assists as a team. The Eagles earn their third win in a row after an 0-4 start and will look to continue that streak at home against Asbury University on January 16th at 3 p.m.

UC Clermont drops to 1-1 after edging out Campbellsville-Harrodsburg 74-71 in their opener. The Cougars will hope to rebound on the road against Boyce at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 23rd.
