BATAVIA, Ohio- The UC Clermont Cougars beat the Community Christian (Detroit) Lions by a score of 95-72 on Wednesday night.
The Cougars led 52-36 at the end of the first half. The momentum carried over, outscoring the Lions 43-36 in the second half.
Jack Kronauge went 13-18 from the field and knocked down a team-high six 3-pointers to finish with 33 points. Kronauge also had 5 assists and 4 steals on the night. Kenyon Gardner had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and a massive 7 blocks for the Cougars. Landon Naylor shot 5-6 from the field and had a near double-double with 10 points and 9 assists. Caden Zeinner added 11 points and 3 assists off of the bench. AJ Austin Robinson went 5-5 from the free-throw line and had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks off of the bench.
Gabe Buttram led the Lions with 22 points and 9 rebounds, a near double-double. Jack Hogan connected on a team-high three 3-pointers and added 11 points off of the bench. Kearney Kajuan had a team-high 4 steals off of the bench.
The Cougars shot a fantastic 67.9% from the field and 61.1% from three point range. They converted on 12 of their 14 free throw attempts. The ball was getting spread around, accumulating in 35 assists as a team. They had 14 blocks and 17 steals as a team on the defensive end.
The Lions shot just 37.2% from the field and 58.3% from the free-throw line. They did have 17 steals as a team and grabbed 13 offensive rebounds.
UC Clermont improves to 4-3 overall and will play Community College of Beaver County on Friday at 6 p.m. Community Christian drops to 5-11 overall and will travel to take on WVU Potomac State College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
