BATAVIA, Ohio– The UC Clermont Cougars beat the Miami-Hamilton Harriers by a score of 85-76 on Wednesday night. The Cougars led 41-34 at halftime and outscored Miami-Hamilton 44-42 in the second half.
Robbie Johnson hit six 3-pointers and led the Cougars in scoring with 24 points. Kenyon Gardner went 9-for-13 from the field and had a double-double with 22 points to go along with 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Austin Robinson shot 7-for-9 from the field and gave the Cougars 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal off of the bench. Landon Naylor had a double-double with 11 points, a team-high 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and a block. Caden Zeinner finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists while Luke Kirklin showed his versatility with 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and a team-high 5 steals.
Kaleb Wanamaker had 25 points, 5 steals, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds. Terrell Pollard shot 9-for-9 from the free-throw line while finishing with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. Carter Burg shot 75% from the field and finished with 18 points. Vince Mauro had a team-high 5 assists off of the bench.
Both teams shot over 50% from the field. The Cougars shot an incredible 52.4% from the three point line. The Harriers shot 88.2% from the free-throw line. UC Clermont out rebounded Miami-Hamilton 41-22. The rebounding advantage and the hot shooting (especially from three) helped propel the Cougars to an impressive win.
UC Clermont improves to 12-5 overall and will travel to play Boyce on February 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Miami-Hamilton falls to 8-8 and will travel to play Boyce on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
