BATAVIA, Ohio– The UC Clermont Cougars beat the Kent State-Tuscarawas Golden Eagles by a score of 87-77 on Sunday. The Cougars got out to a 49-32 lead at halftime. UC Clermont was able to hold on for the victory despite the Golden Eagles outscoring the Cougars 45-38 in the second half.
Jack Kronauge connected on four 3-pointers and led the Cougars in scoring with 18 points. Caden Zeinner finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Robbie Johnson knocked down four 3-pointers and gave UC Clermont 14 points off of the bench. Landon Naylor scored 13 points and pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds. Austin Robinson provided 11 points and 6 rebounds off of the bench.
Jaxon Robb had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Blaine Raber scored 11 points and dished out a team-high 7 assists. Dasjuan Williams shot 2-3 from the three point line and gave the Golden Eagles 10 points off of the bench.
UC Clermont shot 45.8% from the three-point line, while the Golden Eagles shot just 30.8% from three point range. The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Cougars 48-47 but turned the ball over 20 times while UC Clermont turned it over just 10 times.
The Cougars improve to 8-4 overall and will play Miami Middletown on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles fall to 8-8 overall and will travel to play Ohio Christian on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
