BATAVIA, Ohio- UC Clermont defeated Clark State by a score of 115-88 on Wednesday night in the Cougardome. The Cougars came out firing on all cylinders, carrying a 63-30 halftime advantage. Even though the Cougars were outscored in the second half, they still put up 52 points and won in blowout fashion.
Both teams shot above 40% from three-point range. They also both converted on over 70% from the free-throw line. It was an offensive shootout, as both teams shot nearly 50% from the field. The main difference in this game were the turnovers. Clark State turned the ball over 30 times, while UC Clermont only turned it over 8 times. The Cougars saw great production from their bench, while most of Clark State’s offense came from their starting unit.
Marlin Lyons went a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line and finished with 33 points off of the bench. Greg Marsh had 21 points and 14 assists. UC Clermont had 28 assists as a team. Jared Baldock hit 4 three-pointers and finished with 18 points to go along with 6 assists. CJ Brannen hit two triples and had 13 points and 7 rebounds.
Ryan Marchal hit three triples to finish with 24 points and 6 assists. Mike Wallace added 20 points and 5 rebounds. Terrell Williams and Jermayn Baxter had 10 points each. Baxter had 9 rebounds, while Williams finished with 8.
The Cougars have won four straight games and improve to 9-4. They will be in the Cougardome again to face Kent State Tuscarawas on Saturday at 1 p.m. Clark State falls to 1-8 and will be home against Bryant & Stratton on Saturday at 3 p.m.
