BERRIEN SPRINGS, Michigan– The UC Clermont Cougars beat the Andrews University Cardinals by a score of 85-74 on Saturday night. Jack Kronauge knocked down a team-high three 3-pointers and led the scoring with 19 points. Landon Naylor added 18 points and a team-high 6 assists. Kenyon Gardner recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Luke Kirklin had a monster game on the glass, pulling down 14 boards.
Duane Darrett led the Cardinals with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Demarien Nichols had 20 points, while Damarion Travis finished with 13 points and 6 assists.
UC Clermont jumped out to a 44-38 lead at halftime. They outscored the Cardinals 41-36 in the second half and prevented the comeback attempt from AU.
The Cougars shot 85.7% from the free throw line, while the Cardinals shot a pedestrian 59.3% from the free throw line. The Cougars out-rebounded the Cardinals 47-30 and had 8 blocks as a team. Andrews turned it over 14 times, while UC Clermont turned the ball over 10 times.
UC Clermont improves to 3-3 overall. They will host Community Christian (Detroit) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Andrews loses their third consecutive game and fall to 4-7 on the season. They will host Maranatha Baptist University on Thursday at 7 p.m.
